I received Pokemon Omega Ruby on the day of release and have now finished it. I have been playing Pokemon from Pokemon Red and Blue and I have also played the original Ruby, Sapphire & Emerald.
It is true that Pokemon Omega Ruby ROM looks much better graphically. The Pokemon are nicely animated and clear attention has been paid to the design of the game. What I regret is that they sometimes zoom in enormously on a face so that the face is full of pixels. A shame because that is not necessary.

What I also think is a big difference between the old versions and the remakes is that the remakes feel much easier. When I defeated the first gym, I felt that I missed a Pokemon in the gym leader’s list, I had that with every gym leader. As if they had removed the strongest from the team of each leader. I think this is a shame because the gym leaders are very easy to beat. In the old games, I sometimes spent hours defeating a leader, but now I beat everything in succession in one go. This was also with the Pokemon league; I now beat those guys in one go without training my Pokemon or using potions and revives.

Despite these two negatives, the game is also full of positives, they have brought the Megas into the game in a fun way and it feels like the right Pokemon atmosphere again. As I mentioned earlier, the world is of very high quality and very nicely designed (for example, take the Sea Mauville wreck). The characters look nice and you can see that attention has been paid to them. They were able to process the story of the original versions well with a number of extras. I also had ‘Wow’ moments a few times, such as when you finally come face to face with Groudon.
The Pokemon Omega Ruby ROM also has a different end than the original games, well more an ‘extra’ end. I also found a very nice addition. The game also invites you to definitely play it again and maybe even buy the other version as you can only get some Pokemon if you exchange certain Pokemon with the other version (people who played the game understand what I mean by this).

Unfortunately, I cannot say that I find this part challenging, it feels too easy compared to its predecessors. I miss training for a gym or Pokemon league because your opponents’ Pokemon are simply still too strong.
That is why I cannot say that I think this is the best Pokemon part. It’s a nice part for every Pokemon fan, but I think the die-hard fans want the challenge you had in the previous parts.
